[...] The Xbox 360 is hands down THE BEST gaming console out there. Although the PS3 in the long run will be able to be modded MUCH BETTER. I mean come on its a $15,000 server being sold for $500.
[...] Dubbed Grape DR, the processor is designed for use as a math co-processor, rather than a central processing unit. The Grape DR integrates into a host system on a PCI express slot and performs specific tasks such as floating-point addition or multiplication. Despite the fact that the processor is clocked at only 500 Mhz, it is able to calculate over 512 billion floating-point operations per second, more than double the 256 billion operations that IBM’s Cell Processor can theoretically achieve.
[...] I see it hasn’t taken IBM long to begin rolling the Cell processors into its blade servers. But will any investment bank be brave enough to buy them? [...]

[...] Not that the PS3 is based on bad technology. Two of the PS3 chips (nine-cored Cell Processors clocked at 3.2Ghz apiece) will actually be used in high dollar server computers [link via Slashdot] [...]

The Cell is a unique design. This means it will either be revolutionary and bring with it whole new computing applications...or it will be a total flop.

IBM/Sony/Toshiba have made a gutsy move which I sincerely hope will pay off. We need some real advancement in this stagnant/innovationless industry.

Hey, IBM. I'm still waiting for a sexy Cell
Workstation. I'm sure you would sell a lot
of these machines, since all the other sexy
RISC-machines are gone (SGI, Mac).
