[...] iTunes 7, announced today, is currently available for download from Apple’s website. It introduces the first-ever iTunes Video download store, from which users can download hi-res 640×480 video at only $9.99 for older releases, $14.99 for new releases, and $12.99 for pre-release titles. These figures are much better than the various $3.99 to $35.99 price points offered by Amazon’s recently released video download service, Unbox. Unfortunately, downloaded movies are only playable on iPod products, so tough luck to anybody without one. Also, apple is only offering 70 titles for the time being from Pixar, Touchstone, and Miramax, all of which are owned by Steve Jobs’ latest acquisition, Walt Disney. The iTunes player itself has gotten some nice new features including gapless playback and a feature which automatically scans the music library and adds gapless playback to each song.
