Wii Pre-Orders Tomorrow Only at GameStop

GameStop will accept pre-orders for Nintendo’s Wii starting tomorrow morning, but if things go the way they did with the Playstation3 pre-order sequence, the window to place an order shouldn’t be much more than half an hour.

According to an official e-mail distributed by GameStop headquarters to its branch stores yesterday, GameStop and Electronics Boutique stores will begin accepting Wii pre-orders beginning tomorrow, October 13th. Pre-order price is $249 US, with a $50 deposit due at pre-order that can later be used toward the final purchase price of the console when it arrives in November. Pre-orders for the console will not be accepted on GameStop’s or EB’s websites, only in stores, which will begin to accept pre-orders as soon as they open at normal store hours tomorrow morning.

If the pre-order sequence for the Playstation3 earlier in the week is any indication, the Wii pre-orders should only be available for a very short time after stores open tomorrow. Then again, with only 400,000 PS3s hitting US soil before 2007 and Nintendo shipping as many as 1 million during that same span, there should be many more Wii consoles to go around. Either way, if you want to guarantee that you’ll get 18 holes of Wii Golf in before the new year you’d better get down to GameStop first thing.
